A Community of Care: Supporting Mental Wellness and Suicide Prevention

ree

Each September, we observe Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, an important reminder that mental health is a vital part of overall health and well-being. This month encourages us to raise awareness, share resources, and most importantly, remind those who may be struggling that they are not alone.

Suicide continues to be one of the leading causes of death in the United States, affecting people of all ages, backgrounds, and communities. While the statistics are sobering, there is hope—because suicide is often preventable. By learning the warning signs, checking in with loved ones, and seeking professional support, we can all help save lives.

At Genesis Family Health, we are dedicated to walking alongside individuals and families during difficult times. Our Behavioral Health Services provide compassionate, person-centered care designed to promote healing, growth, and resilience.

Our Mental Health Services

  • Outpatient Counseling

    • Life can bring overwhelming challenges, stress, grief, trauma, or ongoing struggles with depression and anxiety. Our outpatient counseling services give individuals a safe, supportive space to process emotions, explore solutions, and set personal goals. Each session is tailored to the individual, focusing on strengths and strategies that promote long-term wellness.

  • Individual Therapy

    • One-on-one therapy allows patients to work closely with a licensed professional in a private, judgment-free setting. Therapy may focus on:

      • Coping with anxiety, depression, or mood disorders

      • Processing grief, trauma, or major life changes

      • Learning healthy ways to manage stress

      • Building self-esteem and positive coping skills

  • Substance Use & Mental Health Support

    • Substance use and mental health challenges often go hand-in-hand. For patients facing both, our team provides comprehensive evaluations and integrated treatment plans to address underlying issues and support overall recovery.

  • Crisis Support and Prevention

    • While ongoing counseling builds long-term strength, we also recognize the urgent need for crisis support. If someone is experiencing suicidal thoughts, immediate help is available through community resources like the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Our role at Genesis Family Health is to provide ongoing care, coping tools, and support systems to reduce risk and help individuals move toward stability.

  • Accessible Care You Can Trust

    • At Genesis Family Health, we believe quality mental health care should be accessible to everyone.

    • Services available in English and Spanish

    • We accept KanCare/Medicaid, Medicare, CHIP, and private insurance plans

    • Discounted fees are available for patients who qualify based on income and family size

You Are Not Alone

This month serves as a powerful reminder: help is always available. If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988 to connect with the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. This free and confidential resource is available 24/7 to anyone in need. In case of an emergency, please call 911 for immediate assistance.

At Genesis Family Health, we are committed to being a source of care, compassion, and hope for our community. Suicide prevention is not just about awareness; it’s about action. By reaching out, listening, and connecting people with resources, we can make a difference.
