An annual well-child check-up is an important part of your child’s back-to-school preparation. It is recommended to do well-child visits every year after birth and continue until your child turns 18 years of age.
During these visits, our providers assess your child’s growth and development since your last visit, ensure that all immunizations are up-to-date to protect your child from preventable childhood illnesses and address any emotional, developmental, or social concerns that you or the provider may have.
If your child is also an athlete participating in school sports, your child must have a sports physical completed by a medical provider in order to practice or compete in school sports.
During a sports physical, we will examine your child’s overall health, evaluate any medical conditions that could impact their performance in their sport, and address exercise-specific issues including injuries, nutrition, training, and exercise programs.
While sports physicals help ensure every student-athlete is healthy and prepared, it does not replace the annual physical they should have with their healthcare provider.
Keeping your child up-to-date on their immunizations is the best way to protect them from preventable diseases, illnesses, disabilities, and even death. In fact, 4 million deaths worldwide are prevented by childhood vaccination each year.
