Martin Monarrez, LSCSW, LCAC, Therapist

Martin Monarrez, LSCSW, LCAC, provides behavioral health services in Liberal and enjoys working with clients across nearly all age groups. He earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Kansas and his Master of Social Work degree from Wichita State University. One of the most meaningful experiences in his career was serving as a school social worker at Meadowlark Elementary School, where he developed a passion for supporting children and families.

Martin believes that healing begins with trust, understanding, and meaningful connection. As a Mexican American therapist, he brings a culturally informed perspective to his work, combining evidence-based interventions with compassion and respect to help clients build resilience, strengthen relationships, and move toward their personal goals. He is trained in Play Therapy and EMDR and utilizes a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and mindfulness-based practices.

• Speaks Spanish and enjoys serving bilingual clients.

• Prefers in-person appointments and does not favor telehealth visits.

• Considers children under age 6 to be the population he is least comfortable treating.
